Two researcher of the coronavirus vaccine won the Nobel Prize in Medicine this year. They are researchers Katalin Carrico and Drew Weisman. Catalin Carrico and Drew Weissman received the award for their discovery of nucleoside base modifications that aided in the development of effective mRNA vaccines against Covid-19.

The Nobel committee announced their name as the winner of the highest prize in medicine on Monday (October 2) noon Bangladesh time in Stockholm, the capital of Sweden.

The Nobel Prize nominees or shortlists were not announced before the announcement. As always, the entire process was carried out with utmost secrecy by the Nobel Committee.

The names of the Nobel laureates will be announced step by step from October 2 to October 9 this year. The winner or winners of the Nobel Prize in Medicine will be announced on Monday (October 2). The Nobel laureate will be announced on Tuesday (October 3) in Physics, Wednesday (October 4) in Chemistry. Then on Thursday (October 5) and Friday (October 6) the Nobel Prize in Peace will be announced. The name of the Nobel laureate in economics will be announced on October 9 after a two-day break.

From 1901 to 2022, a total of 225 people have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Medicine 113 times. Swedish scientist Suvante Pabo won the Nobel Prize in Medicine last year. The award was given to him for his discovery of the genome of primitive man and his discoveries related to the genome of human evolution.

The previous year (2021), American scientists David Julius and Ardem Patapoussian jointly won the Nobel Prize in Medicine for the discovery of temperature and touch receptors.

According to a will made in 1895 by Alfred Nobel, the Swedish scientist who discovered dynamite, the Nobel Prize was introduced. The first prize was awarded in 1901. The awards are presented in five categories to individuals and organizations around the world for successful, unique research, innovation and humanitarian activities. The subjects are Physics, Chemistry, Medicine, Literature and Peace. Although the Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded since 1969.

This year, the value of the Nobel Prize is increasing. This year's winners are set to receive 1 million Swedish krona more than last year.

According to the Nobel Foundation, the value of the Nobel Prize in 2023 is being increased to 10 million kroner. Its amount in Bangladeshi currency is about 10 crore 90 lakh taka.

The minister inaugurated the vaccination program by giving cervical cancer vaccination to Israt Jahan, a class IX student of Azimpur Girls School and College.
