Indian Muslim leaders have condemned Israeli brutality in the besieged Gaza Strip. They also called for an immediate stop to Israel's indiscriminate airstrikes in the valley.

According to a report published by The Hindu on Thursday (October 19), Indian Muslim leaders clarified their position on the Israel-Palestine conflict in a joint statement. In the statement, they strongly criticized Israel's indiscriminate bombing, total blockade and attack on hospitals.

In a joint statement, the Indian Muslim leaders said, ‘We must remember that the Zionist government of Israel has been continuously evicting Palestinians from their homes and lands and oppressing local residents for years.’

It is also said, 'Continued illegal settlements (of Israelis) in new areas of Palestinian territory, attacks on Al-Aqsa Mosque and other such aggressive policies are clear violations of international law. They are the biggest obstacle to sustainable peace and order in the region.”

The signatories to the statement include presidents and senior representatives of All India Muslim Personal Law Board, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind, Jamiat Islami, Imarte Shariah, All India Ulema and Masaikh Board, Milli Council and Jamiat Ahle Hadith. There are also Imams of Delhi's Fatehpuri Mosque and Shia Jama Masjid and former president of Majlis-e-Mushawarat.

They called on world leaders to take immediate action to end the Israeli army's ongoing violence in Gaza and other parts of occupied Palestine, to ensure the establishment of Palestinian human rights and the implementation of international law for lasting peace in the region. At the same time, the occupier urged the Indian government to abandon its pro-Israel policy and adopt a pro-Palestinian policy.

‘We are deeply concerned about the situation in Palestine, particularly in Gaza," the statement said. We strongly condemn the continued killing of children and women, the disruption of food, water, medicine and electricity supplies and the continued bombardment of populated areas and Israeli efforts to depopulate Gaza. "The international community should take immediate action and stop the bloodshed.’

In the statement, the Muslim leaders urged the Indian government to follow its historic policy on Palestine. They said, "We demand from the government to continue India's long-standing anti-colonial and pro-Palestinian foreign policy followed by Mahatma Gandhi and Atal Bihari Vajpayee and use its sphere of influence to secure the just rights of the Palestinian people."

Israel has continued its indiscriminate airstrikes on the Gaza Strip under its control since the surprise attack by Hamas on October 7. From residential buildings to educational institutions, hospitals, mosques and churches, nothing is spared from the attack.

So far thousands of buildings and houses have been completely destroyed. About 3,500 Palestinians died. One third of them are children. The United States and Western countries are giving naked support to this unprecedented massacre of Israel. The Indian government has also supported the same. However, New Delhi has also expressed its support for the 'two-state' solution in Palestine and the right of independent Palestine. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also condemned the Israeli attack on Gaza hospital.
