The day was celebrated on Tuesday (December 5) at Nawab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhavan in the joint initiative of Dhaka University Institute of Disaster Management and Vulnerability Studies, Volunteer Opportunities (VO) of youth volunteer organization and voluntary organization Voluntary Service Overseas Bangladesh (VSO).
University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal was present as the chief guest on the occasion.
Acting Country Director of VSO Bangladesh Khabirul Haque Kamal presided over the celebration of the day. The High Commissioner of Brunei in Dhaka. Haris Othman, Bangladesh University of Professionals Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khondkar Mokaddem Hossain, Director of Youth Development Directorate Md. Abdul Hamid Khan and GIZ Bangladesh representative Mohammad Hamidul Islam Chowdhury spoke as special guests.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. ASM Maqsood Kamal referred to youth and youth volunteers as change makers of the country and nation and said, 'Voluntary service is a noble task. In various natural disasters, including cyclones, volunteers risk their lives to serve humanity and protect people's lives and property. He thanked the organizers for celebrating this day every year to encourage young volunteers. The Vice-Chancellor urged the new generation to work with the spirit of volunteerism to further the development of the country.
