TIB’s new chairperson is Sultana Kamal

Prominent human rights activist Advocate Sultana Kamal has been elected as the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB). Outgoing Chairperson Professor Dr. He has replaced Parveen Hasan.

He was elected to this post in the 117th meeting of the board held at TIB's Dhanmondi office on October 3 (Tuesday).

This information was informed in a press release sent from TIB on Wednesday. Outgoing Chairperson Professor Dr. Board unanimously agreed to play an important role in the anti-corruption social movement initiated by TIB. Expresses thanks and gratitude to Parveen Hasan.

Advocate Sultana Kamal has previously served as a member and Chairperson of the Board of Trustees of TIB for various terms. He served as Advisor to the Caretaker Government in 2006 and Executive Director of the Center for Law and Arbitration from 2001 to 2016. He is the founder president of Human Rights Culture Foundation. Besides, he also worked as a legal consultant in the United Nations.

Sultana Kamal, a graduate and post graduate from Dhaka University, was one of the founders of the Field Hospital in Tripura, India during the Liberation War.

The Board of Trustees is the highest policy making forum of TIB. The treasurer of the board is Mahfuz Anam and the general secretary is Professor Dr. Tasnim Arefa Siddiqui. The members are - Senior Advocate Tawfiq Newaz, Literary and Educationist Abul Momen, Professor Dr. Fakhrul Alam, Advocate Sushmita Chakma, Mansoor Ahmed Chowdhury, founder of Vasman Hospital 'Jiwan Tari' and Philip Guyn, founder-director of Society of Environment and Human Development (SHED).
