Marine engineer found dead at Dhanmondi lake

The police have recovered the blood-soaked body of a marine engineer from the Dhanmondi lake area in Dhaka early Sunday. 

Azizul Haque, sub-inspector of Dhanmondi police station, said they recovered the body from Rabindra Sarobar area of the lake around 2:30 am and sent it to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) for autopsy. 

The deceased has been identified as Shahadat Hossain Majumder, 51.

Motaleb Hossain, the elder brother of the deceased, said Shahadat left home to go jogging in the Dhanmondi lake area around 8:30pm on Saturday. As he did not return home for long, the family members went out in search of him.

Later, they reported the issue to the Dhanmondi police station, who reported them back with the news of recovery after some time.

Motaleb also said his brother was the chief engineer of a foreign vessel and returned home from the United States around a month ago.
