Former Rohingya leader killed in Cox’s Bazar

Assailants have shot and hacked a former Rohingya leader to death of in Ukhiya upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

 

The deceased--Jafar Alam was an ex-leader (known as Majhi in the community) of camp no.18 in the upazila.

 

Faruk Ahmed, assistant superintendent of police of the Armed Police Battalion (APBN)-8, confirmed.

 

Police said some assailants opened fire on Jafar when he came out in the camp around 3:30am on Wednesday. Then the criminals hacked him, leaving him dead on the spot.

 

Efforts are on to nab the perpetrators in this connection, police added.
