Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC), the government's transport agency, is arranging an open-top bus to welcome the winning women team back home.

He said: "The top of a BRTC double-decker bus has been removed to welcome the women's football team. Work is also underway to remove the seats. The bus will be ready by tonight."

As soon as the decision came from the government, we started working on it at our Motijheel depot," he added.

The decision came in response to the viral Facebook post of one of the tigresses Sanjida.

Earlier on Friday night, Sanjida Akhter, a member of the winning team, posted a status on Facebook to share her thoughts and eagerness to win the title and prove a point ahead of final match.

She wrote: "We are not thinking of a victory parade on an open-top bus with the trophy in our hand. We want to win it for those who have helped us to touch the green grass by protecting us from social stigma."

Referring to the viral post, State Minister for Youth and Sports Zahid Ahsan Russel earlier said: "Sanjida in her Facebook post wrote that they (the SAFF winning women's team) would not be able to celebrate on an open-top bus. Seeing this was really heartbreaking for us."

"Although there are no open-top buses in Dhaka, we have made alternative special arrangements in this regard and I personally will receive them at the airport," He added.
