October 9. World Post Day. 'World Post Day' is one of the oldest of any day for celebration. The Universal Postal Organization was established on October 9, 1874 in Bern, Switzerland. The establishment of this organization with representatives from 22 countries in Europe at first led to a global revolution in information exchange and field. Hand-written letters, documents, circulars, communication systems started a revolutionary process. After almost a hundred years, in 1969, the grand conference of the 16th session of the Universal Postal Organization was held in Tokyo, Japan. Anand Mohan, a member of the Indian delegation at this international postal conference, raised the proposal to observe the World Postal Day. As the day, he chose the day of the establishment of the Universal Postal Organization on October 9. Vishwadak leaders present agreed on this proposal.

Bangladesh became a member of the Universal Postal Union in February 1973. Since then, the day has been celebrated with great importance every year.

World Post Day can be celebrated by all, regardless of gender, to recognize the importance of postal services and the contribution of postal workers. However, celebrating Women's Day can do something extra based on specific gender preferences.
